(5 December 2018 – Hong Kong) As of 28 November, the Convoy MPF Composite Index was 220.08, which rose 2.73% month-on-month but fell 6.88% January-to-date. According to the MPFA's announcement, the number of MPF scheme members was 4.27 million as of December 2017. Each employee lost an average of $14,139 in this year so far but recorded an average gain of $5,106 in November.

The Convoy MPF Equity Index was 234.20, which rose 5.02% month-on-month but fell 8.86% January-to-date. The overall bond funds were stable in November. The Convoy MPF Bond Index increased by 0.22% month-on-month and fell by 2.90% year-to-date.

The fund flow fluctuated seriously and the European Equity Funds continued to decline

Convoy Financial Services Limited said that the European Equity Funds followed the decreasing trend in October, and fell 1.54% in November. The Brexit draft agreement was passed after the negotiation among the 27 European Union (“EU”) Member States. However, whether Britain can successfully exit EU still depends on the decision of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The market outlook remains uncertain. On the other hand, EU is also troubled by the deficit budget of Italy. European Equity Funds is the worst-performing fund class in November.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong stock market went up from the slump in November, after a continuous fall in last 6 months. The Hong Kong stocks achieved an attractive valuation after the adjustment in months. With the bailout strategies adopted by the Central Government, the Chinese stocks are favoured. Hence, some investors may have bargain-hunting on the Hong Kong stocks for middle or long-term investment. Hong Kong MPF is thus benefited. The overall performance of HKD Money Market Funds is better than the Hong Kong Equity Funds and recorded increases of 6.73% and 6.35% respectively.
